Folsom Glow Run

Posted on October 3

It's sad to say, but I think it's time to ring the death knell for the color run. Recreational runs in which one dresses in white and has neon-colored powder sprayed on them are everywhere now. It's time to find a new goofy outlet for amateur runners.

This October, the town of Folsom is putting on a glow run, and it is already winning points against the color run for the simple fact that you don't end up covered in paint by the finish line. Runners will be dressed in anything that glows, glitters, sparkles, blinks, or shines as they dash through the dark along a glowing trail. Music will be blasting the entire time, and participants can stop at certain checkpoints to dance out the kinks in their hamstrings before continuing the race. There's also a Silly String attack zone and a spot along the trail to make chalk art and leave your mark. After the run, everyone is invited to stick around the after-glow wrap up party, which includes special deals around historic Folsom's bars and restaurants.

What: Folsom Glow Run
When: Saturday, Oct. 5, 7:45 p.m.
Where: 905 Leidesdorff St., Folsom
Cost: $25–$30

Images from the Make-A-Wish Foundation's 27th annual Wine and Food Fest Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Sacramento Convention Center. Guests were treated to food and drink from nearly 100 local eateries and bars. Other vendors auctioned off wares and services ranging from hand-woven free trade baskets to modern art work and vintage photographs. Proceeds from the event went to the charity’s mission of arranging experiences for children with life-threatening medical conditions.
