Doggy Dash and Bark in the Park Festival

Posted on June 5

One of the Sacramento SPCA’s most popular events (if not the most popular) is coming up this weekend. The Doggy Dash—celebrating its 20th anniversary this year—takes place in William Land Park this Saturday, June 8. The Dash—aka the 2K and 5K walk—is fun, but the accompanying Bark in the Park Festival is where things really get going. There will be contests for the dogs—Best Kisser, Best Wag, Ugliest Dog—demonstrations by the Sacramento Police K9 Unit and Disc Dogs of the Golden Gate, pug races and more. You’ll get a chance to win various raffle prizes as well as the grand prize: an iPad Mini.

Registration for the Dash and festival is $30, and although the event is dedicated to the dogs, by participating you’re helping support all the animal species at the Sacramento SPCA.

Set your alarm; the 2013 Doggy Dash starts at 8 a.m. Feel free to bring out your pup, but if he or she likes to sleep in on Saturday mornings, just bring yourself.
