'This Vicious Minute'

Posted on March 6

Though not for someone looking for a light night of theater, This Vicious Minute, playing through Saturday evening, is definitely thought-provoking. The one-man play, written and performed by Davis native Ben Moroski, was written last year while Moroski was in a Los Angles self-injury treatment group. Moroski, now in his mid-20s, began cutting himself at age 17. The play has received rave reviews in Southern California and won “Best of Fringe” at the Hollywood Fringe Theater Festival in 2012.

I had the opportunity to see this play last week and it was very powerful and very honest but not without humor. This is a great example of theater helping to bring to light subjects that need examining. Don’t be afraid because of the subject matter. I believe you’ll come away from the performance enlightened and probably inspired by Ben’s story. I know we did.

The performance, put on by KOLT Run Creations, takes place at the Ooley Theatre, 2007 28th St. Nightly shows start at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20.
