Dr. Seuss’ Birthday at Fairytale Town

Posted on February 28

Dina Heidrich

Celebrate beloved children’s book author Dr. Seuss’ birthday at beloved children’s play park Fairytale Town on March 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Children will have the opportunity to make hats a la “Cat in the Hat,” create rhyming flip charts and plant “trufulla” trees.

Over on the Mother Goose Stage, guest readers will read aloud from their favorite Dr. Seuss books. Readers include Jennifer Wood from KYMX Mix 96, Sacramento City Council Member Darrell Fong and yours truly. Yup, I’ll be up there reading something in the 2 p.m. hour. (But please, don’t let that stop you from coming to the event.) My book of choice? Happy Birthday to You!

If he were still alive to day, Theodor Seuss Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss, would be turning 109 years old on March 2. Celebrate his birthday, on his birthday. Activities are free after park admission of $5 for adults (you must be accompanied by a child to enter the park) and children ages 2 and older. Children ages 1 and younger are admitted for free. Fairytale Town hours on March 2 are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

What: Dr. Seuss’ Birthday Celebration
Where: Fairytale Town, 3901 Land Park Drive, (916) 808-7462
When: Saturday, March 2, 11 a.m–3 p.m.
Cost: Free after park admission of $5
