Mardi Gras this year falls on Tuesday, Feb. 21, so why not spend the weekend letting the good times roll with some good eats, drinks and, most importantly, music. Here are three events on Saturday, Feb. 18 that are sure to get you in the Fat Tuesday spirit.
The Porch Restaurant and Bar Mardi Gras Grand Opening—Enjoy Southern food done right, specialty cocktails and some old-time New Orleans jazz from 3-5 p.m. If you don’t leave with a full tummy, a cottony head, and a tappin’ toe, then you didn’t do it right. 1815 K St., midtown. 444-2423, theporchsacramento.com
Zydeco at the Old Sugar Mill—Grab a glass of wine from one of the many wineries in Clarksburg’s Old Sugar Mill and listen to the sounds of Zydeco from 1-4 p.m. The accordion and Cajun slang will be provided by ZOOM, (which will also be doing a spot on “Good Day Sacramento” to celebrate Mardi Gras on Fat Tuesday). 35265 Willow Ave., Clarksburg. 744-1615, oldsugarmill.com
Jazz Gitan at the Delta King—Grab a drink on the old gent of the Sacramento River while soaking in the sounds of Gypsy swing. From 6-9 p.m., the Jazz Gitan trio, specializing in the sounds of Django Reinhardt, will be burning up their strings at The Delta King Bar & Grill. Drop by and bend an ear. Tell ’em Django sent you. 1000 Front St., Old Sacramento. 800-825-5464. Jazzgitan.com
