One in eight people is affected by kidney disease, according to the National Kidney Foundation. You can support the work of the NFK, which educates the public about kidney disease and supports those who have it, by attending the Champions of Hope awards, Saturday, March 13, at the Sutter Club. The evening’s four honorees are being recognized by the NFK for their own contributions via patient advocacy, health care, philanthropy and research. Among the recipients are Sacramento resident Robert Ceccato and El Dorado Hills resident—and kidney transplant recipient—Gene Espey. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and includes cocktails, dinner and award presentations. Tickets are $130 per person; $1,250 for a table of 10. For more information or to purchase tickets, call (916) 798-9022 or log onto kidneynca.org.
