If you’ve ever been to Washington, D.C., you’ve probably spent some time in one of the Smithsonian museums, and it may have come as a pleasant surprise that admission to such world-class facilities is absolutely free.

On Saturday, Sept. 29, Smithsonian magazine plans to mimic the Smithsonian free-admission policy by offering free entry to participating museums throughout the country, including some in Sacramento.

Not too fast; you can’t just go to the museums and get in for free on Sept. 29. First you must click here and download your ticket. One ticket per household is good for free admission for two people.

Sacramento-area museums participating in Smithsonian magazine’s Museum Day Live! include the Aerospace Museum of California, La Raza Galería Posada and The California Museum. You’ll find a complete list here.
