It’s mandarin season and what better way to celebrate than with a festival? The 19th Annual Mountain Mandarin Festival takes place this weekend, Nov. 16–18, at the Gold Country Fairgrounds, 1273 High St. in Auburn.
What can you expect at the festival? Well, how about mandarin everything!: mandarin-infused drinks, salads, grilled meats, ice creams, and even chocolate-dipped mandarins. In addition, artisans will be on hand selling fun, one-of-a kind items perfect for gifts or holiday décor. There will also be cooking demos, children’s activities, live music and a Make It With Mandarins Recipe Contest.
Oh, of course, there will be mandarins for sale, too! Loads of them, and it is advised that you pick up the sweet treats early, then enjoy the festival.
Festival hours are Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. General admission is $7; $5 for seniors; and if you plan to attend on Friday, bring two nonperishable food items for the Auburn Food Closet and get in for just $3. Parking at the fairgrounds is $5.
