Gala at the Garden and Casa Boutique

Posted on October 25

The tagline at the end of the press release I received for this event reads, “Shop today for their tomorrow.”

It kinda makes the idea of shopping seem a little less hedonistic and a bit more altruistic.

If this appeals to you, check out the Casa Boutique this weekend at the Casa Garden Restaurant and Meeting Center; proceeds benefit the Sacramento Children’s Home. The opening night reception, Gala at the Garden, takes place Friday, Oct. 26 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Your $15 ticket price gets you wine and hors d’oeuvres, and first access to the boutique, which will be selling jewelry, hand-blown glassware, gourmet jams and jellies, and other one-of-a-kind gifts.

Can’t make Friday night’s reception? The Casa Boutique is open on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and entry is free. There won’t be wine, but there will be light snacks as well as live demonstrations by Open Studio at Lakeside, a community of artists of many types and ages.

Make-A-Wish Foundation's 27th annual Wine and Food Fest

Make-A-Wish Foundation's 27th annual Wine and Food Fest

Images from the Make-A-Wish Foundation's 27th annual Wine and Food Fest Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Sacramento Convention Center. Guests were treated to food and drink from nearly 100 local eateries and bars. Other vendors auctioned off wares and services ranging from hand-woven free trade baskets to modern art work and vintage photographs. Proceeds from the event went to the charity’s mission of arranging experiences for children with life-threatening medical conditions.
