Crockett-Deane Ballet’s Holiday Production

Posted on December 14

If you are going to discuss local ballet royalty, you’d better drop the name Barbara Crockett. As founder of the Sacramento Ballet, she was responsible for bringing The Nutcracker to Sacramento. Crockett, her daughter Allyson Deane and son-in-law Don Schwennesen run the Deane Dance Center, and their nonprofit Crockett-Deane Ballet company will stage The Nutcracker Suite and Christmas Angels at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16 and Thursday, Dec. 17. Dancers trained by the family have gone professional with American Ballet Theatre, The National Ballet of Canada, Houston Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Sacramento Ballet and more, so if you attend a Crockett-Deane performance, you should keep the printed program because you may be watching a star of the future.
