I have long been a fan of Capay Valley Vineyards’ lovely, fruity Viognier, so I was delighted to discover that the winery is now making a sparkling Viognier. A 100 percent varietal bubbly, this crisp, vivacious wine offers sumptuous, tropical-citrusy aromas and bright flavors of grapefruit, ripe pear and apple with mineral, floral nuances. Easy-drinking and full of character, I’d pair this sparkler with sushi, mild creamy curries, shellfish dishes, Thai cusine, and softer cheeses such as chèvre and brie.
