Try It: The Boss

Posted on July 8

I’m a fan of Yolo County’s Turkovich wines, and love the family’s cozy, friendly little tasting room in downtown Winters. I recently relished the brand’s outstanding signature red wine called The Boss – a spicy, delicious blend of Petite Sirah, Syrah, Tempranillo, Grenache, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. This lively, layered 2012 red offers enticing, brightly jammy flavors of dark cherry, blackberry and blueberry, enlivened with frisky notes of cedar, clove, and a warm dash of vanilla. Eminently drinkable on its own, the wine would also be fabulous with pizza, barbecue, well-seasoned grilled steak and a full-flavored cheese platter.
