Check It Out: The Co-op's Mushrooms

Posted on August 5

The Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op is my go-to spot for beautiful, locally grown produce when I don’t have the time to visit the farmers’ market. The store always manages to surprise me with unusual, out-of-the-box fruit and vegetables, and this past weekend was no exception. I was dazzled by the store’s exceptional lineup of mushrooms, especially a basket of fragile, flowerlike pink oyster mushrooms that seemed far too pretty to cook. There was also a succulent pile of morels and a collection of sunshine yellow-orange Chanterelle mushrooms that made my mouth water. If your next recipe calls for some tasty fungi, make sure to check the Co-op’s selection.
