We all like to enjoy a leisurely brunch on a lazy weekend morning, but sometimes the standard bacon-and-eggs menu items can get a bit tiresome. I like to start with an indulgent bag of house-made doughnut holes, served up with three dipping sauces (on our last visit they were chocolate, caramel and pumpkin); but try to save room for the kitchen’s rib-sticking tri-tip beef Benedict (a fun departure from the traditional version)—thinly shaved smoked tri tip is piled atop cheddar grit cakes and poached eggs, and swathed in a spicy Hollandaise sauce. Other faves include the smoked salmon and spinach omelet; and the fabulous cheddar biscuits, topped with soft-scrambled eggs and a feisty ancho chili sausage gravy.
