Wine of the Week: Six Hands 2008 Delta Red

Posted on August 28

I discovered an invigorating red wine this week produced by Six Hands Winery in Walnut Grove. The 2008 Delta Red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petite Sirah. This a bright, brisk, fun wine that bursts with RED flavors … I tasted red cherry, red currant, red licorice (really!) and strawberry; and it had a perfumey, brambly- vanilla aroma I found very appealing. Despite its fruitiness, this is a big wine with great structure, and contains enough tannin that it can stand up to more substantial dishes (think: steak, chili, robust pasta dishes). It would also be nice as a stand-alone patio quaff – a tasty, rejuvenating wine to sip after a long day at the office.
