Wine of the Week: Klinker Brick Old Vine Zinfandel

Posted on April 16

I was wowed by a powerhouse old vine Zinfandel this week. Lodi’s renowned Klinker Brick Winery crafted this zinger of a 2009 red wine – a spicy, huge, meal-in-a-glass Zin, the wine brims with deep, complex, ripe plummy/berry flavors, with nuances of mocha, cedar, and vanilla. The lively, earthy aroma is redolent of plums and jammy strawberries, with hints of cinnamon and licorice. This is a wine I would choose to drink by itself, in order to savor its intriguing, delicious complexity.
