Wine of the Week: Double Oak Vineyards & Winery 2009 Chardonnay

Posted on July 2

Not everyone enjoys huge, oaky, buttery, vanilla-kissed Chardonnays – there are those enophiles who crave some bouncy, fresh fruit flavors in their favorite white wine. If you belong in the latter group, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by Nevada City’s Double Oak Vineyards & Winery’s 2009 Chardonnay. Round, ebullient, lush apple-pear flavors practically leap out of the bottle to greet you – in fact, this may be the fruitiest Chardonnay I’ve ever tasted. This fun, uncomplicated wine is refreshing, offering up a slight citrusy fragrance and aftertaste, and would be a marvelous choice for a picnic or backyard barbecue.
