Cod Love at The Press

I was in cod heaven the other night at The Press, one of my favorite midtown restaurants. The restaurant - which always offers up a tantalizing selection of small plates and nibbles - was running a special on cod and potato fritters, those irresistible tapas that one finds all over Spain. Wonderfully crusty on the outside, and pillowy-soft and smooth on the inside, the fritters were fabulous. I followed them with a stunning grilled cod, arranged atop lumpy, comforting “crushed” Yukon Gold potatoes and spattered with a vivacious green garlic sauce. Paired with a silky Viognier and some excellent conversation, the meal was one of the best I enjoyed all week.
