Wine of the Week: LangeTwins 2006 Midnight Reserve

Posted on November 5

I’ve enjoyed several of Lodi’s LangeTwins wines, and this week I was very pleased to discover the winery’s 2006 Midnight Reserve. This restrained and elegant red blend, composed of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Petit Verdot, 13% Merlot, and 3% Malbec, offered smooth, sturdy flavors of ripe blackberry, blueberry and black plum, with a lively hit of spice and a subtle background of green bell pepper and leather. I would savor this tasty, medium-bodied red with lamb, venison (and other wild game), Stilton cheese and hearty, tomato-based pastas.
