I was reminded recently of the excellent selection of cheeses at the Davis Co-op. Stopping in for a quick purchase of ripe quinces and pears from the produce section, I found myself stocking up instead on an array of items from the bustling cheese counter, including a fabulous pheasant and rosemary pâté, a large wedge of nutty cave-aged Gruyère, and a creamy, round triple cream goat brie that was the perfect size for a cheese party platter. The Co-op’s enticing selection includes a number of organic cheeses, some interesting nondairy varieties, and a number of cheese accompaniments, such as nuts, Italian panforte and fruit preserves.
