Sacramento’s own Ella Dining Room & Bar got a shout-out this week on Fast Company magazine’s Co.Design blog (www.fastcodesign.com). In a post called “The World’s Most Innovative Restaurants,” Ella was listed along with some seriously chic places, including Textile Pavilion in Luxembourg, Fette Sau in New York, Nomiya in Paris and Home Delicate Restaurant in Milan. There’s a picture of Ella’s cool white interior, with its farmhouse tables, limestone floors and ceiling treatment of reclaimed Hungarian farmhouse shutters, a look the blog calls “rustic luxury.” Check out the other restaurant interiors; some of them are really wild. First Supper at the MAK museum in Vienna has bright-yellow resin tables and chairs that were designed by museum visitors, and the cafeteria at the Italian Biennale pavilion is an astounding Pop Art fantasy, with massive black and white stripes and polka dots crazily intersecting each other on the floor, walls and ceiling.
